“Now grandmama, try to appreciate the kind gesture that is meant to be a tribute to our ancestress,” the younger woman chuckled lightly.

The women stopped abruptly at the lively chattering of two children who had walked up to look at the memorial.

“Marie, see the resemblance to granny’s crypt”. The older one pointed to the picture she held in her hand.

Marie Laveau nodded as she answered carefully.

“Indeed, why do you think I had it placed here ?”

And as her green eyes flashed, a storm threatened overhead.
